My Doodle Story

Diamond in the (not-so) rough! Alex was found as a stray, matted and thin, obviously neglected and unwanted. After she has been cleaned up and returned to health, this sweet pup is definitely starting to shine. While we don’t have the details about her pre-rescue life, it’s evident that Alex wasn’t cared for or treasured. She missed out on all of the fun of puppyhood, so she’s making up for lost time! She’s learning all sorts of skills to be the best version of herself. Now, she’s ready to find a family of her own where she can continue to learn and grow, adding new experiences to her repertoire.

Did we mention, Alex is a puppy—a 36-lb puppy? Because of her lack of early socialization, she’s an 8-week-old puppy brain inside a 2-year-old puppy body. She is a bundle of joy and energy, all the joie de vivre of puppyhood. Get ready for some lovin’! This girl is cuddly and affectionate. She loves snuggling on the couch and gladly welcomes all the rubs and kisses. Alex realizes that each day is a gift, and she can’t wait to share those gifts with her family.

Speaking of family, Alex would love to find a home with a canine pal of similar size who can match her energy. She’d also do well as a solo-pup. She likes to play, and play, and play. Cats are probably not a good fit since they are just so “chase-able”. She would do best in an adult home where her liveliness will be appreciated. While she likes kids, she is still learning to control her play-impulses and can be too enthusiastic for children at this time. Her foster has found that mental toys also help Alex to expend that puppy zeal. This pup is SMART! Since Alex is still relishing all that is new in the world, she definitely needs an experienced adopter committed to continuing her training as she matures. For Alex, consistent training is essential to a successful integration into her new home. Despite her youth, Alex is trustworthy when left alone in a confined space rather than in her crate; she is not a pup who can tolerate crating.

Alex’s adoption fee is $600. She is HW negative, current on all HW/flea preventatives, spayed, and microchipped. All adoption fees go toward expenses like medical costs and food for Doodle Dandy dogs and help make it possible for us to continue giving amazing pups like Alex a second chance. If you would like to fill out an application and you are within a 5-hour drive of the foster’s home, please click on one of the Adoption Application buttons on this page and select ALEX from the drop-down menu on the application form
